Relevantly Speaking – Todd Crawford Launches Impact Radius

We’re back from Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas. While we were there, we shot 14 interviews with some pretty amazing people. I’m excited to say that the first in that series is a doozy. Todd Crawford is a legend in the affiliate space. He is one of the true pioneers dating back to being on the founding team of Commission Junction in 1998. Not content to rest on past accomplishments, Todd has launched a new venture called Impact Radius. We’re talking to him about why this venture is so timely.

Relevantly Speaking – The Importance of a Backup Plan

Today’s episode of Relevantly Speaking started off as something very different. I had written a great script and was set to bring you a killer interview – but my Macbook Pro had other plans.

I woke up this morning and gathered everything to head over to the set where we shoot the show. I went to fire up my laptop and… nothin’. I could hear it running, but the screen was dead. After an hour or so of troubleshooting, I called our tech support department at MediaTrust. Ryan walked me through some things remotely before sending me off to the Apple store. Long story short, my logic board is toast and it’s going to take 2-3 days to fix it. What am I supposed to do about today’s RS? The script and the teleprompter software are both on the dead machine…

I was about to throw in the towel and concede defeat when I decided it might be fun to do a diary of sorts as this week’s show. No teleprompter. No interview cutaways. Just me and a note card – old school. One take.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade my friends. And, always have a backup plan.

Over the Thanksgiving break, CT Moore of Revenews sighted Relevantly Speaking in his article titled “5 Online Video Ideas for Businesses.” He praised us for our “high production” value, but took us to task on what he called a violation of blogging etiquette. We’ve got some stuff to say about that.

We’re also talking to Burst Media CEO, Jarvis Coffin, about why online advertising should be viewed with the same lens as traditional media. Jarvis talks a lot about creativity, accountability and brand safety in the online advertising world.
