Microsoft’s Bing Gains Search Market Share
Headline: Look into using Microspft’s Bing more often. It’s market share is growing and its sometimes cheaper than Google.
Details: Bing, Microsoft’s new search engine, increased its share of the U.S. Internet search market in July, rising to 9.41% of all search queries, according to Internet data company StatCounter. That improves on Bing’s 8.23% share in June, its first full monthly period after its launch in late May. Search market leader Google, meanwhile, saw its share of U.S. search queries fall slightly in July, from 78.48% to 77.54%. Google’s global market share remained essentially stable at 89.23% of all Internet searches worldwide. Yahoo’s U.S. slice of the search market slid from 11.04% in June to 10.95% in July. Last month Yahoo and Microsoft announced a deal whereby Bing would become Yahoo’s default search engine, although the implementation is still 18 to 24 months away.
