Great article, it was very motivating for me. I am just about to embark on taking over a subniche of a major market, and it helps hearing someone else talk about focusing on scaling and taking over a single market, rather than bouncing around.

I have an ecommerce store which we only used PPC to market with for years, making about 100K/yr. I got into SEO and took over all the keywords we were paying for with multiple sites, majorly scaled it, and we are now at about 600K/yr. Focusing on one great niche is way better than bouncing around to a bunch of mediocre ones! All the best.

Thanks Arun,

15% is actual sales ratio not click-through rate to merchant site. If you target brand terms you will usually get two digit conversion rates. People performing brand/navigational queries are already pre-sold and very close to making a sale.

Hamlet,

This is a real good article. Excellent!

I have a question. You said "The worst conversion rate I got was 15% and could easily convert at 28-30% by simply displaying price comparison tables.". This conversion is your landing page to product site or its the actual conversion in sales? Hope you have time to answer!

Hmmm...

It always seems the methods that require the most attention, the most perseverance and determination, and least shortcuts and "tricks to game a system" lead to the MOST success.

Go figure ;)

SEO has done me well, when combined with useful content of course (not writing for Google, but writing for people).

Collin - Good job. Focus, hard work and accept some failures every now and then. That is all it takes.

Keep it up!

Well first things first.

I don't know Nicky Cakes personally and he might be a great guy - but being a former black hat guy that tells me his is lazy, so SEO im sure he does not understand well nor wants to put the time into it.

To back up what your saying too, I started making money with SEO and CPA in January of this year. I first hit 2600, then 4400 - 7700 - 10900 - 12200 and will break 13 for sure this month from the looks of hit. So as I keep pushing I can see 10k per day a year from now or very close to that.

The nice thing about doing seo vs ppc, my costs are under 500 per month - im all profit baby!
