Gary Vaynerchuk and the Brand of You

If you were at Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas, you may have seen Gary Vaynerchuk’s keynote. I didn’t see it in person, but I caught it online here when they posted it. I feel like I understand Gary’s business ideas pretty well. I’ve followed his blog for a some time and we interviewed him on a previous edition of Relevantly Speaking. Gary is very big into the “Brand of You” concept. On this week’s show, Christopher Smith will be diving bit further into that concept. I hope we’ll get your thoughts on it. Keep an eye out for Wednesday’s show. In the meantime, enjoy the keynote.

I would like to expand on this topic in relationship to affiliate marketing techniques for our affiliate partners.
This concept and social influencer marketing is going to become a very important part of the social media marketing channel.

I agree…social marketing and media is a way for affiliates to hit “home runs” instead of “singles”… as Gary V mentioned in this video.

Joseph just think of infinite realm of untapped possibility in the emerging social channels. its a different way of marketing, targeting, behaviors etc. it will take marketers stepping into a new comfort zone because you cannot use the same methods.
Thats why i think Gary is so spot on. We as marketers in the social media become the emissaries of the brands we market.

Yes, unfortunately, lots of current marketing professionals are unable and unwilling to employ social media because they don’t understand it or can’t measure it in traditional clicks. That’s a mistake because you can bet that it is definitely influencing buying decisions and other behaviors on the web.

I found Gary’s commentary to quite interesting and it reminds me of the buzz that Free Agent Nation created years and years ago. Affiliate Marketing is a testament to that vision where people stopped asking about what retirement plan the employer offered and decided to go out on their own (and in their home) and create their own retirement plan.
If you’re looking to become rich – do something that you love. Go out there and be original – set really high quality standards and stick to them. By doing that you will grow your own brand, grow your finances, grow the finances of the people connected to you and when you become financially fit enough to retire you can tell people that you’re too busy having fun to stop.
